How to Increase Instagram Story Views (Gulf Accounts, 2026)

Story views are the most honest number Instagram gives you: no algorithm decides who sees a story from an account they follow. Which means a low number is telling you something specific about your audience, and this guide is about reading it correctly before trying to raise it.

What a story view count is actually measuring

Stories are not ranked the way the feed is. Instagram orders the tray by who it thinks you interact with most, but it does not withhold a story from a follower the way it withholds a post. So the view count is close to a direct measurement of how many of your followers still open the app and still care enough to tap through to you.

That makes it the most diagnostic number on the account. If you have twenty thousand followers and four hundred story views, the followers are not the problem — the relationship is. And no amount of posting more stories fixes a relationship; it usually accelerates the mute.

Why the number falls after the first snap

Every story you add loses part of the audience of the one before it. That is not a flaw in your content, it is how tapping works: people are moving through a tray, and each extra frame is another chance to move on to the next account. Expect to lose a meaningful share with each successive frame, and design around it rather than against it.

The practical consequence is that the offer, the link and the question all belong in the first two frames. A Gulf business putting the discount in the seventh frame is showing it to a fraction of the people who opened the story, and then concluding the discount did not work.

FrameTypical share of frame 1What belongs here
1100%The hook, and the offer if there is one
2~75%The detail, the link, the poll
3~55%Proof — a photo, a review, a number
5~35%Anything you can afford to lose
8+Under 20%Nothing that matters

The things that genuinely raise the number

Replies are the strongest lever, because a reply tells Instagram to move you up that person's tray permanently. A question sticker that can be answered in two words beats a beautifully designed frame that asks for nothing, and in Gulf accounts the ones that work are usually about a choice: this or that, which colour, what time.

Timing is the second. Gulf story traffic peaks late — after nine, and later still on Thursday and Friday — and a story posted at eleven in the morning has spent most of its twenty-four hours before the audience is awake to it. Posting in the evening is not a trick, it is meeting the audience where it already is.

  • Ask something answerable in two words. A reply moves you up the tray for good.
  • Post in the evening, and later on Thursday and Friday.
  • Keep it to three or four frames unless something genuinely warrants more.
  • Show a face. Story audiences respond to people far more than to graphics.
  • Stop posting daily if the number is falling. Frequency is the most common cause of a mute.

When the number will not move no matter what you do

If the view rate is under three per cent of followers and stays there through everything above, the audience is the problem rather than the stories. That happens for two reasons: followers acquired from a giveaway or a follow-for-follow round who never wanted the account, or an audience in the wrong country for what you sell.

Neither is fixed by posting more. The first is fixed by giving the audience you still have a reason to come back, and the second by building the audience you actually need — which for a Gulf business means an Arab and Gulf audience rather than the cheapest one available.

If the stories are good and the audience is not there to see them, that is the part worth fixing first.

Frequently asked questions

What is a good story view rate?

Roughly 5–15% of your follower count for an account under ten thousand, falling as the account grows. Under 3% almost always means the audience was acquired rather than earned, and no change to the stories themselves will move it.

Does posting more stories increase views?

It increases total views and lowers the rate per frame, which is usually the wrong trade. Beyond three or four frames you are showing the later ones to a shrinking share of the audience, and the most common cause of a mute is frequency rather than content.

Why do the same people always watch first?

The order of the viewer list reflects who Instagram thinks interacts with you most, not who watched first. It is a ranking rather than a timeline, which is why the list barely changes even when your reach does.

Can story views be increased directly?

They can, and it is worth understanding what that buys: a story expires in twenty-four hours and takes its views with it, so it is a purchase for one specific launch or announcement rather than a lasting change to the account.
